The worlds longest nails are no more. Lee Redmond held the longest nails world record according to Guinness book of world records. She hadn't cut them since 1979. Unfortunately that all came to an end on Feb 13th 2009. Lee was in a car accident in Salt Lake City, Utah. Oh don't worry, she's alive. But her nails are no more. They did not survive the crash. She was thrown from the vehicle and her nails broke upon her impact to the ground.

You just know she was screaming. Not because of the crash but because the nails. On the plus size she can now use the bathroom by herself.

I ALMOST blogged about this when it happened. Almost. And then I just couldn't stand to look at the picture again.
I mean, I get it... sometimes I don't want to shave my legs or clip my toenails. But, I never started thinking... hey...I'll just let them keep growing and growing and growing!

Who does that? Disgusting. She couldn't possibly have done anything. At all. I break nails all the time and mine are short. I shudder to think of showering her.

Ha ha ha! I just loved this story! Her life was just given back to her by an accident!

WOW! Once again Bryan thanks for the hard hitting news. I don't know what I would do with out the longest finger nail story. You should work for the network news.

I'm with Lisa! DISGUSTING! Why would you do something that purposely limits your independence! Thank heavens for a car crash! Thanks Bryan...I'm going to go throw up now! :)

Or look at the hairline....Something wrong is going on there.

I saw her on TV once. I was amazed at everything she could do for herself with those long nails. But still I think I would have had to think twice if she wanted to shake my hand. The germs!!!

Ugly Ugly Ugly. Why would anyone want this record. It seems to me it complicates, eating, showering, using a phone or computer just about anythign we do with our hands. And as the rest of you, I hate looking at the picture.

My comments are influenced by the recent economic crisis, and I apologize for the emotion I will surely display. I am saddened by the loss of those beautiful nails. In response to the poor performance of the stock market, I cashed out my 401k to invest in something I believed in. I dumped all my money into nail polish, acetone, and blue painters tape. The slowdown of construction and guilty pleasures had not affected things the way we anticipated in the industry. But the loss of 12 miles of fingernails will surely break me. On the positive side, old ladies dressed as 13 year olds is very sexy. She should have worn those sweat pants that say eye candy on the butt.

Garrett, I am so saddened for you in this economic crisis.

I have to agree with you about the sweat pants though...maybe she should have worn the ones that say "juicy" on the butt. Always classy.

Thanks for your thoughts Garrett. As hard as this sad news hit you it hit someone else even harder. Freddy Kruger. She was the love of his after-life and the woman of his dreams that he would bring into sleeping teenagers dreams.
