I did not vote for Obama. I don't hold his beliefs on many, many issues. However, he has been elected. He will have my support and respect, as long as he doesn't lose it. It is time for a clean slate. I hope he can succeed and became a great president. I really do. I hold out hope that our elected officials can put the people first.
As for others like like Harry Reid and Nancy Polosi, there is no clean slate. The fact is that this Senate and Congress worry me more than any President could. As a matter of fact I think Obama will be much more moderate than he ever was as a Senator.

Well, I remember feeling the same way when Clinton was put into office and he did nothing but disappoint me. I don't fear so much for the political choices of Obama, but his moral ones. Then I remember the fortelling of the Prophets and I know that this is what will have to happen in order for the Lord to come again. So....we are in for some big changes morally, that is a given. As for the real governing body...what will they claim is the problem when 4 years from now we are still having big problems as a nation? "Oh those Republicans mess up everything"??
I get so frustrated with politics. Both parties blame the other and both parties act as though they will save the world. I wish people could meet in the middle. I can't say that I thought Obama was the right person for the job, but honestly, I can't say McCain was either.
I hope that we can move forward as a nation and come together instead of blaming one another.
Yes, I agree - now is the time for HOPE. Hope that Obama is successful - I really hope he is - truthfully.
Am I disappointed - you bet. Will I let it ruin my life - no way. This is a wakeup call that people need to get involved in their local governments and decision making and send responsible respresentatives to congress and the senate. That is the larger failure in my opinion - the loss of seats in the senate and congress - that is the real danger. Let's HOPE something good comes from Obama's term. Should we respect Obama? Most definetly. should we compromise our values or let him and congress compromise them? Hell no.
PS - Did anyone else throw up when they saw Jessie Jackson and Oprah crying in the crowd? I lost a perfectly good piece of pizza - dammit Obama, you're already taking food out of my mouth!
I too lost some food over the crying of the overly self righteous. I'm glad we have an African American President, but I can already tell its going to be over hyped. I thought we weren't supposed to see color? I don't think had this been a Woman it would get as much coverage as Obama. Especially if it was a conservative woman. I guess that makes me a racist.
Oh cruel, cruel world. I was against Obama as well, for all of his liberalistic, anything goes ideals. But you could see his win coming. What I was not prepared for was how people are acting like he is Jesus or Moses or some type of religious figure. He is a political figure, people...not the Messiah!
Well, I think it IS historical that a colored man be voted into office. But...it's not like they went all out and voted for a darkie. He's mostly white. In the right lighting, he could pass for a really tan cracka.
I guess you have to wean America in. You can't just spring a dark darkie...have to do it milk chocolate style first.
As for Oprah, she single handedly got Obama the presidency. I believe that!
I think it is neat we have a Black President but I did not vote for Obama. I agree with Bryan I think the Congress is more of a Problem and concern. I don't like Nancy P., she scares me. I did not like Clinton and yet as a Country we did OK. I can't blame everything on Bush I truly think he did the best he could. Maybe he should have chosen better advisers and I can only hope that Obama will choose wisely. He is our President and he needs our prayers and support.
LISA!!!!!! You are too much! You freaking crack me up! "he could pass for a really tan cracka!!" LOL, LOL, LOL- where do you come up with this stuff!
I hope that every negative thing that goes on in this nation during Obama's term is blamed on him. It is all Bush's fault that some idiot making $30,000 a year bought a $350,000 home! DUH!!!! WE are in charge of US! Save some money, store some food, love your kids, and pray for the best! And don't buy a Merceds if you only make a Cavalier salary!
Cavalier? Show off. Not everyone can afford one of those. I fall in the 1996 green (with rust and scratches) Chrysler Town and Country. 169,852 miles, thank you very much!
